Members Gear Up For Monday's Wage Bargaining
On Monday, the last day of joint bargaining on wages is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. in California. UE members want a fair contract by the end of the day that gives them a substantial wage increase, restored personal time and improvements in the 401(k) plans. While the improvements negotiated are applicable only to California workers, members are committed to achieving justice at the service centers on both coasts.
On Friday, Laguna Nigel workers learned about the substandard wage offers made by management so far. At well attended meetings on both shifts, workers expressed concern over how small the wage offers are to date and voted overwhelming to take action if necessary.
It is the interest of all parties to have a fair contract by the end Monday's bargaining.
