UE Local 1008 Members Overwhelmingly Reject Companies Last Offer

On Wednesday, July 30 Laguna Niguel workers voted by an overwhelming margin to reject the contract offer of Northrop Grumman, Stanley Associates and SPS. The negotiating committee had warned the companies that they would recommend rejection of the offer because the members needed their personal days restored and additional raises.

On Wednesday, hundreds of UE members voted during their lunch hours. Over 80% of the members voted and the vote was 344 to 2 to reject the contract.

UE Local 1008 members were able to organize and mobilize for the contract vote in one day to show the companies what they thought of their "last, best and final" contract offer. The vote should send a powerful message to the companies that their next offer needs to be better. The UE is currently working to arrange additional meeting dates with a federal mediator.
