On Tuesday, August 12, a delegation of UE Local 1008 members met with the staff of Rep. Loretta Sanchez at her District office in Garden Grove. The L 1008 members informed Sanchez's staff of Stanley's stalling in negotiating a fair contract that includes decent wages increases and restores their PTO days. They pointed out that on August 1 Stanley announced "record-breaking profits" due largely to its USCIS service center contracts. They also informed Sanchez's staff of Stanley's use of background checks to deny jobs to long-time service center employees who were former Choctaw employees. The L 1008 members asked that Rep. Sanchez pressure the USCIS to tell Stanley and its subcontractors to negotiate a fair contract as quickly as possible.
