Bargaining in California Concludes

On August 22, the joint negotiating committees of SPS, Northrop and Stanley met in Laguna Niguel to bargain wages and personal days.  A federal mediator was present and the negotiating committees of the companies and the union spent most of the day in separate rooms.

At the end of the session, the companies said they had no changes to make in their last, best and final offer presented on July 28 on wages and personal days.  Stanley also made its last, best and final offer on all other outstanding economic issues.  Northrop Grumman had bargained all other outstanding issues with the Union the previous week.  SPS was not present for the bargaining session, and the Union is contacting the company to determine its stance on remaining issues.

A ratification vote is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26 in California.  The Union's committee fought hard for improvements in wages and to secure personal days.  The companies' final offer does not include personal days.  It does include a 10% wage increase in the first year of the agreement for General Clerk I's and it contains at least a 10% increase across the 3 years of the agreement for all job classifications.

UE Local 1008 have been provided with the details of the proposed agreement.

Bargaining in Vermont resumes on September 9.
