Bernie Sanders Press Conference with UE Local 208, VT Workers and Community Rally for Fair Wages
On Monday Sept. 8th UE Local 208 Members and community supporters rallied outside their workplace to demand fair wages.
Earlier in the day a press conference with Senator Bernie Sanders was held. Local media such as the Burlington Free Press, WCAX-TV (Channel 3) and the St. Albans Messenger covered the press conference. Sanders spoke about the need for a decent wage increase for this mostly female workforce, especially since they do such important government work. Nadene Wetherby (NG Steward), Lynn Densmore, and Susan Hunter (NG Negotiating Committee) spoke about the need for a raise and the effects of not havining paid personal days. They were joined by several other coworkers all wearing red Union t-shirts.
Bargaining with Northrop Grumman will resume in St. Albans on Tuesday Sept 9th.
