California Demands Union Recognition!
Today workers at the California Service Center took a major step toward winning the justice and respect they deserve. 50 workers marched into the Administration's office and demanded that their employer, Stanley Associates and its sub-contractors, recognize their union. They informed Stanley that the majority of the employees at the facility have joined the union and that no violations of employee's rights on the part of Stanley will be tolerated.
To date, two thirds of the employees at the facility have joined the union, and more are joining every day.

Dear Mr. Sharpe,
This letter will serve to inform you that the majority of employees at the California Service Center have joined the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America (UE). The UE is prepared to demonstrate this majority status at a time and location acceptable to you. We would like to meet with you as soon as possible to discuss the voluntary recognition process and to begin the process of negotiating a union contract.
Workers at the California Service Center have made this decision freely and after careful deliberation. We call upon you to respect this decision made by your employees and to recognize the union we have formed.
Further, as a government contractor sustained by taxpayer dollars, we expect that you will refrain from any actions that would violate our rights under the law to form a union in an environment free from employer interference and coercion. We will take whatever action we deem appropriate to defend the rights of our co-workers at the Laguna Niguel facility.
We look forward to a long and productive relationship with you. Please do not hesitate to contact the UE if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
The UE Organizing Committee at the California Service Center
