Know Your Rights

UE Local 208 has recently received a lot of questions about workers' rights under the Vermont Medical Leave laws.  We have produced a flier which attempts to answer most of these questions.

It's important to know your rights.  The company may not know what they are or they may not tell you what your rights are.  It is the employee's responsibility to let the employer when a medical leave is needed.  Sometimes, you have to give a certain amount of notice.

Vermont has 3 types of medical leave laws.  These are Family Medical Leave, Parental Leave and Short Term Medical Leave.  If you qualify for one or more of these leaves you may take the time off as unpaid time if you choose.

The attached flier attempts to answer the mostly commonly asked questions.  If you need more information, please see your steward or call the UE at 802-524-5005.
