Town Meeting with Bernie Sanders
U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, Acting Deputy Director of USCIS, Michael Aytes, and representatives from the service center contractors will answer questions on Saturday about the future of the Vermont Service Center.
USCIS has opened a lockbox facility in South Burlington and plans to transfer some of the data entry work currently done by Stanley workers at the Service Center to this new facility. The lockbox is run by J.P. Morgan. The government has said that eventually about 100 jobs will be lost at the St. Albans Service Center and created at the lockbox facility.
Senator Sanders is concerned about the workers in St. Albans and has arranged for a town meeting this Saturday to allow workers to discuss the situation with USCIS directly.
The meeting starts at noon with sandwiches and soda. The discussion will begin at 12:30. The town meeting will be held Saturday, April 11 at the St. Albans Historical Museum.
